Our Wednesday class has moved back outdoors to Tudek Park near the Butterfly Garden (park in the second parking lot and continue west on the path for ~30 yards). If inclement weather threatens, Dragonfly Massage is the alternate site, so watch the FamilyKarateClub email group posts for any notifications.

Dojo Rules, Learning Resources, and Japanese Terminology
- To help new students get started and to assist more advanced students with our Japanese terminology, you may find our Family Karate Dojo rules, Japanese terms, techniques, and more to be useful.
- A list of learning resources (e.g., books, websites, apps, etc) is available here.
- Sensei Schaefer’s online Ueshiro Shorin-ryu flashcards on Japanese terminology, questions, stances, strikes, blocks, & kicks are available in Quizlet here.
Upcoming Events, Tests, and Visits
- Tip tests are held every two months (e.g., February, April, June, August, October, & December), usually the third or fourth Thursday of the month. See calendar.
- Belt tests are held every six months (e.g., February, August), usually on the third or fourth Thursday. See calendar.
- Our dojo periodically holds potluck dinners for all students (deshi).
Additional Events
- All students receive Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate USA system-wide emails about special events and workouts.
- Recent special workouts have included a fall weapons workout for advanced students in NYC. Black belt workouts have been held in Daytona Beach & Cocoa Beach, FL, and New York City, as well as a Cherry Blossom workout in Great Falls, VA to remember and celebrate Master Ueshiro's birthday.
